Hudson Valley NY *chat thread*

Hi Terry! Is that stone building in your profile picture your house? OMG I meant COOP! LOL

Lisa, I wish that we're my coop! That is a photo I took in France 2 years ago of the farm next door to my DH's uncles house in Burgundy. DH was born there and we go back every couple of years to visit his family. We had the best eggs and meat from that same little farm while we visited, so I took a pic of the chickens trying to figure out what kind they were, but Barry from the Feathersite told me he thinks they are just production hybrids, no long lost ancient French breed, LOL. Not sure about that Columbian pattern rooster though...

Welcome to all the new posters here! Sallysec, West Nyack is still not too far, I used to work in Palisades 20 years ago and colleagues and I used to make a bread run to the Rockland Bakery when we got really hungry, is that still there? You have a really nice variety of hens there. Is your Australorps laying well for you?

Today was def. hotter than yesterday, can't wait for Fall to come already, gah...

Yes my girls are laying great, today I got ten eggs. Rockland bakery is still there, in fact I hear they do bus tours from albany. Where in the mall did you work? I have had family living here my entire life, was born and raised here. That mall was built in my back yard. I moved off for college and to meet my husband but now I am back.

Lexi, both the chicks and your hamburg are so cute! Is one of those chicks a SLW - the middle one?

Oh, I didn't mean the Palisades Mall, I used to work at Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory (now called Earth Observatory) in the town of Palisades. I did some of my graduate research there, a great place to work, really nice people and beautiful campus. Glad to hear the bakery is still there!
