Thanks Lexi ~ it was tough for sure. SO glad my husband had the nerve to do it!! I would not have. Sorry about your Muscovy hen. Was she born with the bad leg or did she suffer an injury?? How are the babies doing?sorry to hear about your hen!! Sounds like she had internal injuries. Its always hard having to cull..I might have to cull my muscovy hen with the bad leg..she still dosnt walk on it. She eats and hops around the yard..but I just get so sad watching her.![]()
I didnt didnt really do anything this weekend..helped my sister move to her boyfriends house, but that was it lol

Yes I'm thankful my husband took care of the cull for me. There was NO WAY I was going to be able to do it. It would have haunted me. Anyway, the ducklings are so adorable. My daughter would LOVE a couple of ducks and PROMISE she'd do all the work but I know I'd be the one taking care of them! As it is, I'm having trouble keeping up with the 2 coops..especially now that it's cold. Winter literally hurts my body ever since I've had Lyme. I hope your duck hen's leg improves. Maybe she's just stiff from sitting too long? I really hope it's nothing serious.

Never thought of using leaves in the coop. Good idea! I've only used them in the run to help keep the dirt moist. It gets so dry and hard from all the clay. We have a lot of maple and oak trees so there's plenty of leaves!!!I think she broke it, she hasnt put weight on it in a week or so...idk how it would happen, she was in a pen by herself.
I just finished raking up leaves to throw in the coops. Figured I would bag some aswell and save for later in the winter for bedding! Saves me money and give the chickens somthing to scratch around in! Dont know why I never thought of it before
