Hudson Valley NY *chat thread*

Good Morning Everybody~
I hope all is well :)

JerseyHen...I know zip about Canadian geese. Did you find a nest? Goslings running around would definitely be neat as long as their parents don't bring any cooties or (100's of friends) with them. They can't poop more than chickens, right...?!

Coupe...the chick is adorable!
I asked DH to pick up feed on his way home from work today. I'm avoiding TSC like the plague. I want chicks but I'm holding out for lavender orpingtons~ no pressure!! ;-) I KNOW if I go to TSC and see chicks, I'll walk out of there with 6 of them. Trying not to get in over my head, ya know?

Carousel86...good luck with the eggs! What breeds are you hatching?

So I thought I had a broody buff orpington but she changed her mind. Is there anything I can do to encourage them? Maybe a little Barry White? Candles? Wine?

I have a black orpington (Mr. Blue's flockmate). I don't think she had any light markings on her wings. I'll have to check my pictures. Looking forward to hearing what it is when the breeder responds to you! Whoops~ never mind. Edited to add that I checked my profile pictures and found one of the orpingtons when they were chicks. I'm losing my mind (I'm old, ya know). I really don't remember her having light markings but she did! it's the picture captioned "Could this be a hen or a roo?" I posted last year..you responded he's a roo! Mr. Blue is on the right and Mrs. Black is on the left.

The breeder said "it looks like I put a black orpington egg in your box by mistake" ..so now I have a English Black Orpington! She has really great blood lines..her Rooster is an imported English Black Orp and the Hens are from David Pownall. Oh man Mr.blue was so little in that pic! They grow so fast! Hard to believe that scrawny little chick, grew up into a Huge beautiful Rooster!!

Quote:&nbsp Yes..a huge beautiful rooster but a PUNK nonetheless! He's lucky he's handsome. Anyway...NICE score on the black orpington! Don't ya love when people make "good" mistakes? :) Question of the Day:: Is it a hen or a roo?

Lmao orphan does kinda fit! He/she is a cute little chick! Wont know if its a pullet or roo until its alittle older!
I got some pics of the ducks enjoying their large driveway puddle yesterday!
