We have 2 chicks that are both supposed to be Marans and are the same age (6 weeks). One is at least twice as big as the other. We also have 2 that are just about 2 weeks old (backyard blend type). We tried to put them together since the smaller 6 week old is the same size as the 2 weekers. The big girl turned into a real bully pecking and not letting the young ones near the food or under the light hung at one end of the brooder. We separated them again after a few hours and are now wondering what's the best way to introduce them and get them all happily living together. Thanks!

No worries....

I had the same thing happen with my Partridge Rocks. I had one that was so small I even emailed the hatchery and asked if there was such a thing as dwarf chickens in the bread...

This little girl would walk right under the other chickens that were all the same age. She was SO tiny- I didn't think she would live, because, even tho she was active, she was so dang small.

Well- she grew to be just as big as the other hens. Her name is Little Biggie- because she had wings the correct size- they would just drag on the ground because her body was so small and her legs so short. Aw....

She will grow up to be just fine! :-D

Love the little runt!
