I'm posting this for a friend who just informed me she lost a hen tonight. Her pullet, around 6 mo old, BSL, had been laying some big egg lately, but was laying consistently, and acting normally. She found her tonight, as if she had layed the 3" egg, took a few steps, then died. The pullet appeared to be normal (aside from being dead). It was very hot today. Could the combination of the heat, and effort of passing such a large egg, have caused this?
