Huge Mass on abdomen of a 3 week old chick!?

Yes I watch her every day & she acts fine so I’ll let it run it’s course for now & hope whatever it is resolves. They will be a month old tomorrow.

The chick may be in pain, I wouldn't just leave it. This is a case for a vet. It looks like something that either needs antibiotics, pain meds or to be removed by a professional.

The chick is not in pain currently. It runs, plays & eats drinks. I’m an experienced chicken owner with many chickens & watch my chickens daily so notice small signs typically way before the average eye since chickens tend to hide their symptoms. If she was in pain I’d cull.

Oh absolutely, that's why I suggested the vet. They can do a biopsy on it (needle aspiration) to tell you what's in it.

I do hope you figure out what it is though and she heals up well! Best of luck to you & her.

Thank you! Around here an avian vet would charge over $100 just to see her & biopsy. Just not worth it for one chick to be frank. Hopefully it dissolves over time. So weird. I wonder if maybe she had a twin & the twin remains are what I’m seeing inside her? Either that or a tumor if some sort that doesn’t seem to bother her.

Pandang81 hasn't been on for 4 months. I would suggest starting a private conversation with the person. Everybody could have different email notification settings ... new replies to a thread could be turned off while conversations may be turned on. Good luck!
