Hughes Net

My father had hugesnet. It sux. You will be treated decently the first year or so, then you are nothing but a number. Customer service is outsourced to india or another country with people that talk too fast and barely speak correct english. After the first year they will cut down your Mb limit and almost every year after. They will then ask you to buy "tokens" before you can access the internet again. Soon you not be able to even view video without running your alotted bandwith out. I would use dialup before i go with hugesnet.

Yep their customer service sucked big time and some of the people spoke with a very heavy accent that is India. Hubby hated it when he needed help and insist his call be transferred anywhere IN the USA. Finally he got tired of the BS, told them we are cancelling our service. Then they tried to bribe us with a month's free and we told them NOOOOOOOO!

I think we used to have HughesNet, or something like it, and boy did it suck big time. Somedays were didn't even have internet because of its crapiness and the customer service wasn't really that great...

I've had Hughes Net for about 6 years now. I use it for work and have the commercial setup, which allows me lots of bandwidth. And, while they DO have service people in India with whom I CANNOT communicate, this isn't a problem because I talk to them maybe once a year. The rest of the time I have good service. We don't get much in the way of snow here, so that's not a problem. This spring when we had all the tornadoes and even lost a section of roof, we STILL had service. So, all in all, I don't have any complaints about them until that one time a year when I have to talk to them. Then I hate them passionately and I always feel positively guilty for feeling that way, but I cannot understand anything they say!

I have had hughesnet since they bought out direcway . At the time I purchased the equipment the satellite is about 3x the size of a diretv dish but the signal for both is in the same dish. Anyway top I pay about 80 a month for speeds nowhere near my friends with cable or phone line broadband. I haven't had to much trouble except for the fact I run macs and not windows, all their frebies are for windows machines. They do punish you with lower speeds when you go over the federal acess however they now offer you away to buy yourself out online when you need large files or updates. I haven't had issues to call for help in 10 years except when I wanted to upgrade. I am lucky to have it as I have no cell service where I live and the cable co said they would not be putting in any lines out here same with the phone lines they will not be upgrading this area not enough folks. I would be happy with cell service but that is a no too. My neighbor has wild blue and pays about the same for about the same so I am staying with the devil I know then one I don't. Funny thing is a live just a little over and hour from Denver and 40 minutes from Colorado Springs, you would think we would have some choices so closed to big cities.

Ask to speak to an American Representative. There is supposed to be one listening to the call or available to take the call from the person.

If you think ATT is BAD, wait till you get HughesNet. I just got rid of Hughes Net in July 11. I signed a 2 year contract in Sept 2010!! I told them I would file a complaint with my Attorney's General Office, the Better Business Bureau, all because they straight out lied to me. You will spend three times (and that is not a mistake) more than you pay ATT! If you are unhappy with ATT, I would suggest you try Earthlink. I have signed a two year contract with ATT because it is the only provider other than HughesNet. I first got the Earthlink DSL, ATT installed it, Earthlink paid ATT for the use of their telephone lines. I did not even have the cheapest or lowest download plan with HughesNet and I always had to pay an extra $20.00 because I over downloaded several days per month. I dreaded filing my taxes, I even sent them during the free download period, which by the way is 2:00am to 7:00am! The salesman (from HN) told me I could download 500 songs per day and never use up my download, well I never download one song, I shop online, pay some bills online, and check out BYC. I do not recommend HughesNet to anyone. They have a good customer service, but the sales people just flat out lie about what you get for the money! I have had a few issues with ATT, but nothing like I did with Hughes Net! Oh by the way, my monthly fee was $59.99 with the first three months for $39.99, by the time I terminated my contract (I am still waiting for my $200.00 back from my equipment that I sold back to HN) I was on the $89.99 plan (which they did give to me for $79.99)! The free installation is not totally free, we had to pay the installer $130.00 because he would not put the dish on our house, he put it on a metal pole. No installation check from us, no dish! Again, not what the salesman said! I would check out all the options you can before going with HughesNet....It is not much faster than dialup! Good luck!

PS: Hughes Net uses a company in the Phillipines for their customer service, not India! I found out that piece of info with all my calls to them! They really tried to help me, just couldn't!

We had them for almost 3 years, they never could manage to debit our bank account correctly to pay the bill. So every month I had to call, spend an hour or so on the phone, telling them step by step how to operate their own system to make the payment. We had the highest band width pkg and it stunk, we constantly had issues with slow slow slow internet. When I switched to Wild Blue, they tried to charge me upwards of $1000 , I got my attorney to write them a "nice" letter
