We have Hughesnet (our family has a small consulting business, so we have a business package that's networked to 5 computers and a printer that we can scan and send .pdf documents from), and our neighbor has WildBlue. I use the computers here and next door all the time, and, personally, I prefer Hughes - the service is MUCH faster (watch the download sizes though - our limit used to be 350 MB in a 4-hour period, but we just renewed our contract, so I'm not sure what it is now). If you exceed your bandwidth limit, FAP (Fair Access Policy) really does shut you down for 24 hours. It stinks, but we've learned not to stream video and music all the time, and we do just fine. When it's cloudy or raining, the neighbor's WildBlue gets infuriatingly slow, while there's really no difference in our HughesNet speed. I know Hughes is pricey compared to WildBlue, but you get what you pay for.
If you ever do need technical assistance with HughesNet, I agree that their customer service in the Philippines sucks. The trick is to request an "advanced technician" right off the bat, and then you'll be connected to a very knowledgeable technician in the United States who's actually comprehensible.
