I too keep a lawn chair out by the pens to sit in and relax.

I haven't been out for as long since its freezing here but on nice days I love to sit outside with my bowl of treats and spoil my chickies. Of all my animals, my chickens amuze me the most. I love how they grab a treat and run like crazy to gobble it down before someone else steals it.

Chickens rule!!

Story to tell - my husband was operated on a week ago Friday for colon cancer, very early detection, they found it on a routine colonoscopy. Surgery on that Friday, they said they thought they got it all in one fell swoop, but need pathology to confirm.....anyways, on Sunday I felt as though I couldn't breathe. I couldn't take a deep breath. I came home from the hospital and went outside to let the girls run around a bit, and I sat and watched. Slowly my breath returned. I needed to relax, and watching our chickens is just so zen. If you're feeling stressed then go watch your chooks' antics, you'll feel better in no time

You belong in front of those pins!!! Most of us does it, and highly recommend it. You will know if anything is not "right" about the chickens early when a problem develops. You will know the boy's favorite girls, but that is just the beginning of the benifits to chicken watching....

Every afternoon the kids and I go to the pen and wait on Daddy to come home from work. We gather to talk about the day and this has become our most charished time for all. The neighbors stop by to talk about hunting, politics, and chickens. The neighborhood kids come to see, feed and hold a chick and a bunny. Everyone loves it.

Cheeper, and more effective than therapy, marriage counciling, or AA meetings. Just chickens and good memories.

I LOVE watching my chickens! And they show off for me! My Hubby wants to know if I am learning to speak chicken, or if the chickens are learning to speak human!!

I feel sorry for all you people who have to make do with plastic chairs - obviously your chickens are not high priority enough!
I have just finished building a deck right outside the chicken run. I sit up there on a nice wooden bench with my morning cup of coffee and all the dogs and watch the girls.
Again in the evening with a glass of wine, and while I'm at work during the day I just want to get home to sit on my deck with all my animals. Most people will think this is very sad, bet we know better, right?
Its pure and simple Quality Time.

Well, if I had a deck to sit on, it would be way too far from them - I prefer my plastic chair and being up close and personal with them. Someday there will be a lawn swing out there, but for now, the chairs are just fine.

i smoke,,,but only outside,, so my cig spot is in the middle of my yard so i can watch all 9 pens of birds

and i have people that come by EVERY week just to stand by the fence for half an hour just to watch the birds,, ya should hear them laugh at the babies,,,, im thinking of charging fee's like going to the movies hehe

Sorry to hear about your hubby - glad though that they got it all.
