Carla and Gerald were in the kitchen making lunch when they realized today was a school day. "Dave, could you please come down to the kitchen." Carla said. "Give me a minute. I need to reach a stopping point." Dave replied. Gerald thought of an excuse to make Dave come down. "Your kitten found it's way behind the washing machine." Gerald said. Dave bolted out of bed. "How do i save him?" he said. Derek comes out from under the couch. "You guys lied to me." Dave said. "It's a school day. You have to go to school." Carla said. Dave checks calendar and then the clock. "It's so late it doesn't matter anymore." Dave said. "You are going whether you like it or not." Gerald pushed Dave out the door. Dave broke free and ran. "I'm not going to school today." he said.

Name: Cassie windstock
Age: 3
Rank: farmers daughter, youngest child of the Windstocks.
Personality: curious, adventurous, loves her cat, and loves to save bugs.
Description: Like most of her sisters, she has curly blond hair. She has big soft brown eyes. Can be seen in a denim romper most of the time. Is chubby and sweet, but can throw a pretty bad temper tantrum. Can toddle around pretty fast, and can easily slip away from the watchful eyes of the oldest windstock, Millie. And she is adorable as heck! She is loved by almost everyone who knows her.

Slippers snuck out of the barn with a mouse limp in her jaws. She sniffed the air. She could smell lots of things. She could smell Millie patting the sheep in the stall of their barn, she could smell Cassie picking daisies idly in the field. She could smell the rest of the windstocks hurriedly eating breakfast as she could hear ms. Windstock yelling at Millie to come inside and do the same so she would have something to eat before school started. Cassie had nobody with her in the field, slippers realized. So slippers hid her mouse between two bales of hay and dashed off to find her. Cassie, as slippers had found out, hated when slippers showed off her dead mice. Slippers couldn’t imagine why. But the last time she had showed off her bounty to Cassie, the small child had burst into a fit of tears, sending slippers who was very startled, into a tree. She watched from the safety of above as her lovely dinner she had caught was made a lovely coffin made of cardboard and tape and was buried far beneath the ground with a rock placed on top. What a waste of food! Slippers never offered a mouse to Cassie again.

Cassie watched in awe as a ladybug crawled up onto her chubby little fingers. She held still, so she wouldn't frighten the bug. Still as a rock, still as a mountain, still as the calm before a storm. And sure enough, a storm did come. Slippers bounded up to Cassie. The ladybug opened her spotted wings, then flew away faster then Cassie could blink. "Bad kitty!" She scolded Slippers as the cat rubbed up against Cassie. But, Slippers was a barn cat. And Slippers didn't know the difference between 'good kitty' and 'bad kitty'. All she knew was that Cassie was patting her, and it felt good. So she must be a good kitty. Cassie was upset about the bug, but was glad for the company. "Be very still" She told Slippers. And together they looked at a butterfly fluttering across the field. Or Slippers would have looked, if her eyes had been open. For she had fallen asleep next to Cassie. Why else would Slippers be lying so still?
