One of my hovabators is going into lockdown on Tuesday. I've played around with humidity a little, before eggs were set. Well, about 2 medium splashes of water brings me around 80-85%. Crazy Atlanta humidity!

This is my first time with the hovabators... How can I prevent it from getting so high? I have one other hova that's empty. I'm cleaning it today. Hmm.... Maybe I could plug it in with no eggs, and act as it's lockdown? See what to do, so I'll know for Tuesday?

Advice would be great... I incubate with no water, it stays just where I want it.

I have had a terrible time this year with humidity in my Hovabators. When the rh in the room is 40% I find I need to only half fill the middle trough to get to 65% and that is where I hatch. By the morning when outside temps have dropped the room humidity decreases and so does the rh in the Hovabator. This is why I love my Brinsea with the auto pump.

Cover over water surface area. Sheet of aluminum foil over the majority of the water pan beneath. Or.. dry out the water and just put a narrow cup in there with water in it.. that would give a lot less surface area for evaporation.
