So lock down is tomorrow. Im having trouble with keeping humidity past 47%. Temp has been pretty constant at 102 °f for the past week. this is a still/dry air incubation hatch. I was pretty successful with this method before but in a wooden box with four chicks. This time I build a plastic tote one with 7eggs. all are still alive growing beautifully.

What are best materials and placement used inside the bator to keep humidity up?

Right now I placed two mason jars in the corners of the tote. One rounded rock with sponge placed on top in another . And cardboard tube in one of the mason jars.

We have high humidity already in our air here in Fl.
But in a pinch, I will roll up a couple old terry cloth washcloths w/rubber band around them. Soak em in hot tap water, ring em out and place them in the front corners of my bators.
BUT..... Use an aux hydrometer to compare to your bator meter. Always good to have a second reading from a separate source.
I try to run low 60's here in neck of the woods in FL.

It's wet surface area rather than amount of water that makes a difference. Wet cloths and sponges sitting half in a bowl/tray of water will work. Goodluck with the hatch!

I think the others have said it all really. I use those flat kitchen sponges as they have a big surface area to increase humidity.
