For me in my homemade bator I am keeping half a piece of paper towel folded that sits on a spot directly over the light bulb (not touching! Fire hazard, lol) and in front of the fan. Every time I open the bator, I take out the paper twoel and spritz a few mists of water on it nd put it back in. This makes up for the dry air that enters every time I open the bator (I also have a bowl of water and a sponge below the light and in front of the fan, but in such an arrid climate it only keeps the humidity at 30-35% and this drops the second I open the bator). Depending on the amount of water I put on the paper towel I can keep my humidity anywhere from 40-75%, although the 75% will eventually fall down to 55% over time. When it comes to hatching time I am planning on replacing my small paper towlel with a warm, damp cloth. With a damp cloth sitting over the light bulb and in front of the fan it is very easy to keep the humidity in the 70-80% consistently.
Hope this helps.
