I'm confused with all this conflicting humidity levels.

Day 1-18 = 50%
Day 18+ = 75-80%

Is this right? Am I on track here? This is my 2nd batch, first batch didn't hatch by day 25 (now also increased the temp from 99.5 to 101.5) but a couple were also shrink wrapped. It was an emotional disaster that one!

If I just follow manufacturers advice, surely I can't go wrong?, filling the first water tub = 55% and lockdown I will fill the second water tub and hope the humidity is right.

Your help is appreciated, thank you..

This thread shows what a lot of others think about humidity. I'm new to hatching with an incubator so cannot offer any real advice. It seems different things work for different people.

Here are a couple of sites that might help you tell if your humidity is too high or too low.

Also, with a still air, you should measure your temperature at the height of the eggs. Since hot air rises, the temperature in the top can be quite a bit warmer than the temperature at the bottom. You probably already knew that.

Good Luck!!!

It sounds like your humidity was to high for your first hatch.
This is what works for me.

Days 1-18 = 40-45% humidity
Days 19-21 =55-65% humidity

Your temps should be around 102*F with a still air incubator.

Again, this is what works best for me.There are many variables such as your elevation above sea level and what type of eggs you are hatching.

Good Luck and I hope this helps you.
