So I've got this home made incubator that to get the humidity up high enough for hatching it takes up half the space filled up with trays and sponges. I was thinking to save room I could mount the trays higher up on the sides. Do you think that would still keeping humidity up? I know it's all about surface area but didn't know if it would make a difference the water being above the eggs instead of below or next to it. what do you think?

cut up a sponge approximately 4 inches long and 1 inch thick and put warm water on it.

If your bator's got a fan in it, it should work fine. The Brinsea EX humidity pump drips water onto a humidity pad that sits above the eggs and below the fan.
