The plastic containers are all too small for our flocks (we raised a flock of 8 first time and another flock of 4 few years later) - they need space to run around. Unless you buy the big metal tub like the size they came in at Tractor Supplies, but then you are stuck with the tub! We attached heat lamp to a torch floor lamp post, so we could adjust the height of the heat lamp to moderate the temperature. The chicks would choose a temperature zone they like to hang out pending on their activities. But after 4-5 weeks, they didn't need the heat lamp anymore in our case.View attachment 4058482
I have been buying bigger containers as they need it which yes does get expensive only thing is I have 2 different thermometers and I am finding it veey difficult to keep a consistent temp for them any suggestions? They are 4 weeks tomorrow. I am also looking for a coop to put them in at night and a gated chicken run that they can run free in the daytime if you have any suggestions
