Hello everyone! This is my first Winter with chickens (it's their first Winter too) and so far my humidity/temperature monitor has been reading anywhere from 60% to 80% humidity. The coop is insulated and we have tried adding more ventilation but the humidity doesn't change much. I have been adding dry wood shavings and removing dirty stuff. The only thing that had lowered the humidity significantly is turning on the small heater (which I would prefer not to do since many recommend not heating the coop.) But the heater seems to bring the humidity down to about 45% - 55%.
Is it normal for humidity to be this high inside the coop during winter? I would hate for any of the chickens to get frostbite if I can help it. I live in Newfoundland Canada and our temps often go below 0 C. I appreciate any advice or suggestions!
