Humidity Issues in Winter

Hello everyone! This is my first Winter with chickens (it's their first Winter too) and so far my humidity/temperature monitor has been reading anywhere from 60% to 80% humidity. The coop is insulated and we have tried adding more ventilation but the humidity doesn't change much. I have been adding dry wood shavings and removing dirty stuff. The only thing that had lowered the humidity significantly is turning on the small heater (which I would prefer not to do since many recommend not heating the coop.) But the heater seems to bring the humidity down to about 45% - 55%.

Is it normal for humidity to be this high inside the coop during winter? I would hate for any of the chickens to get frostbite if I can help it. I live in Newfoundland Canada and our temps often go below 0 C. I appreciate any advice or suggestions!

What is the humidity outside the coop?
Can you please post pictures of your coop, inside and out?
It would be easier to communicate in all threads if you update your profile with your general location instead of having to state it in your first post.
It doesn't seem as if you get very bad winters.
