RIght now the humidity in my house is at 60%... its raining and flooded and I am starting to turn into a frog...
BUT the incubator.... I cant get the humidity up past like 42...... I just added Two more pans of water above the hatching tray...
its only at 40%.... and I used hot water so the temp wouldnt drop too much... This is sooo frustrating.... LOckdown was supposed to start yesterday dang it....
I had sponges in there... they dried up in a day.... Im about to go get that little humidifer I saw mentioned earlier.... maybe that will help.... Hope I have enough room with all the pans.... Im thinking I will put it in and turn it on and ulplug to turn on and off... The longer I tinker with this new incubator the more I want to add some windows to the thing...

You might try first double checking the accurancy of your temp and humidity gauge....

Good Luck

Don't close all the vent holes! You could smother your chicks!!

If the humidity in the house is really high, put the bator in the room with the highest humidity and leave it there.
Read up on 'dry incubation'; it's basically what you have going right now.

I don't know what kind of bator you have, but I used to put the sponges under a top vent hole, then drip hot water onto them with a straw through the hole. That way you don't have to open the bator.

Good luck!!

Well dangit you jinxed me...<just kiddin> My bator went into lock down last night... and yes it is raining and spitting snow here today in NH... I couldn't get the humidity up to where I wanted it.. I did persaver however. I took a long ridged plastic tube used to AI horses.... cut it down to a respectful length... Loaded a 20 cc syringe with very warm water and inserted it through the hole designed for the electric turner because... I have a layer of rubber shelf liner over the grid and the eggs are in cut down egg cartons. I think this is WHY... I having problems bringing up the humidity level. TOO much stuff in there blocking off the water surface. I am using a Hovabator 1588. I had already filled the two wells in the plastic tray soo I took the AI tube and filled a another depression area of the plastic tray.... whalla.... the humidity is up...
