I have babies hatching everywhere, humidity just jumped from high 60's to 89..........now , just in case. If a chick is using the hygrometer as a bed, will the body heat from that baby cause the hygrometer to read higher???

as well, my windows don't have condensation built up on them.

so, tell me it's the chicks fault who was laying on the hygrometer.

I am doing my first hatch and my friend who is also a BYCer told me that when they hatch the humidity will shoot way up. The chick is all wet and all that moisture causes it to go up so no worries. The chick laying on there could also make it skew a bit! Happy Hatching!!

The water on the chick would affect the readings. If no condensation, I would say you are fine. The humidity will rise like crazy when they start hatching though...
