humidity level in incubator

We have a Little Giant 9300 incubator with egg turner and are on Day 12 of incubation. We have been trying to keep humidity level around 50% (as were instructed by the previous owner of incubator). Does that sound right? On what day do we increase humidity and to what amount? Any advice will be appreciated!

That may be a little high for now. What you want is a specific amount of weight loss/growth of air cell. Different eggs vary in porosity so will lose weight at different rates. You can assess by the size of the air cell when candling.
You want to increase humidity by the 18th day.
Since hygrometers tend to be inaccurate, I don't use one but rather weigh eggs before and a couple times during incubation. They should lose about 0.65% weight per day.
Then I just dramatically increase humidity for hatching.

That can vary depending on your situation... temps and humidity where you have the incubator sitting. Keep an on the humidity level using a hygrometer and if it drops add a small amount of water. Its easy to over do and raise the humidity too high and hard to get it back down quickly . So just do a little at a time.
