I am using a hand-me-down styrofoam incubator. I had great results so I decided to try again. This time I bought a hygrometer. No matter what I do it is only reading 50% humidity. They have been in there for 5 days. I have pieces of sponge in there moistened, and the water channels filled. What else can I do?

I have no luck with moistened sponge pieces. I wet a couple of pieces of paper towels with warm/hot water and put them in while they are sopping wet. This always boosts my humidity, but keep a close eye on it - it can jump up high pretty quickly.

When I have trouble with the humidity staying up, I put in some old hand towels in there and get them wet, works great! Good luck
