Good morning all - 3 chicks have hatched so far with 8 more to go. The humidity keeps going up. I haven't changed the settings. I have Brinsea Maxi II Ex. Why is this happening and what should I do?

It's normal. When a chick hatches, the humidity will skyrocket.

In my incubator there are two little red plugs I can pull to let some of it out without opening the lid

Each chick that hatches releases the moisture from its egg into the air, after every hatch you can expect the humidity to rise, it is usually alright, if the humidity gets way to high then crack open the incubator for a bit and let the moisture out, also you could remove the egg shells after the chicks hatch so they stop releasing moisture. The chicks also raise the humidity, they are all wet when they come out, that moisture goes into the air as they dry and that raises the humidity.

Thanks Kessel23 and HuskerHens18. I sort of guessed that was what made the humidiy go up. It is up to 82% since chick #3 hatched. Before she hatched it was in the 70's. I will lift the edge of the incubater up a tiny bit and pull out a a cracked open shell to get it out of the way and let a little humidity out.
I'll wait a couple of minutes in case anyone wants to chime in and say "....... Noooooo don't do it........" :)

Honestly, I've opened my incubator while chicks were pipped. In fact I had to move pipped eggs due to a power outage. Nobody was shrink wrapped. I recommend just be fast, it doesn't take much to suck out humidity :)

Ok - I opened it up as eeennny weeny as I could and removed the 3 cracked open shells. The humidy is in the 70's - and there's more space. Right now it looks like there are only 2 of the 8 remaining that arenn't pipping.
