I did the salt cap humidity test last night. When I woke up after 8 hours and looked at it, instead of the 75% it's suppose to be at, it was at 65%. Does this mean my humidity in the bator has been 10% less than I thought it was? I hope so because I've been worried about too much humidity! Either way, I have dried out the water cells to let the bator run dry for a day or 2 before lockdown to try and increase the size of some of the air cells. Some cells appear okay and others not. But I figure at least one dry out day is okay. Will drying out the water cells affect my temperatures previously?

It would seem that if it shows 10% lower in the test that it would indeed be 10% lower in the bator. I'm not sure by what you mean with "temperatures previously". You may have to adjust your temps, yes. The lower/dryer my bator is, generally the higher the temp will be than when the humidity is higher at the same setting.

Okay that's what I thought, too! The hygrometer I have also reads temperature and the temp has been right because I have it calibrated with a mercury thermometer so I guess the humidity is just off. I dried out my water cells so I could have a dry bator for two days to hopefully increase the size of some of my cells. Thanks for all your help, Amy. I will have to name one of my babies after you if all goes well from all your advice you've given! lol
