Hello fellow crazy chicken people.

So I am not sure if the monitor is just not working correctly or if there is a problem. I am starting day 2 of incubation in a homemade incubator.
It's simply just a styrofoam cooler with a few ventilation holes at the top and bottom and a 25 watt light that is set with a dimmer switch to get the right temperature range.
I have a little temperature fluctuation I think due to it being a still air incubator.
I have the eggs on a rack I built inside the cooler approximately 3 inch off the bottom. The eggs are in cartons (cardboard with no top) that I drilled the bottom out of so that that there is some ventilation around the egg. Under the platform I have Tupperware containers filled with water.
At first I just had one approximately 50% the size of the bottom but when humidity was not coming up so I added two more smaller containers to completely fill the bottom have the cooler. But for some reason my humidity will not go over 28-29%
I do not know if it is reading the humidity correctly or not. As for temperature I also have a normal glass alcohol thermometer that I have been able to compare Temperature with. I do not have another hydrometer though.
I did not want to lift the lid again right now on the incubator so I just took a picture through one of the ventilation holes.

Let me know your thoughts.

Not sure how to with this one. I'll look at those videos though! Hopefully I can calculate it assuming that's the issue.

Have the water container near your heat source, if humidity doesn't kick it up higher to where you want it. Place a sponge in the water container part of it stick out so the air can wick the moisture off the sponge.

Doing some better but still working on it. Never had this much issue with humidity before.
