Okay, so I haven't set my eggs tonight. I was waiting for my husband to bring home a digital thermometer hygrometer combo, and then was going to set them. The thermometer that came with out bator said it was 101 in there, we set the new one in there and it said the temp was 107. Glad I didn't set the eggs yet! We are working on getting the temp where it should be. My question is.... where all are we supposed to put the water? It says the humidity is only 38, but what we filled we thought is all we're supposed to fill. And they're still full. They are the areas in the middle, but not the direct middle. One section goes all the way around (in the center) and the other two sections on the two outsides of the other one. Small areas. Is that the only places to put water in there? The further out section has depth to it, but small holes, not sure if they go all the way through. Are we supposed to put water there too? We have the LG 9200. If anyone has or had one of these and knows what to do, please fill me in. Thanks!

Sounds like you are filling the right areas, but don't fill the others or water will leak everywhere (so says the voice of experience and a very wet carpet). Did you leave the red plugs in or take them out? On my LG, one plug is all the way in, the other is sort of sitting on top of the hole and the humidity is maintaining 57%. The other thing you could try is putting a small sponge or washcloth in the bottom to add some extra humidity. I tried this prior to setting the eggs so I knew I could get the humidity up during lockdown, but I had to play with it a little to get the dampness of the washcloth just right so the humidity wasn't through the roof. Good Luck!!

Hey Donna, I do have one vent plug out. The one nearest to the power cord. I will definitely try your suggestions. I don't want anything to go wrong with this hatch. Thank you VERY much for your advice!

Hi! This is my first incubating experience so I am no expert. But I am using a sponge in bator and it is maintaining humidity at 55 percent. I was also told to try a maxipad during lockdown to jack-up the humidity during hatching. When I need to add water to the sponge I simply add water through a straw to the sponge and it has pretty much been spot on. Oh and be sure you calibrate that hygrometer. My digital one was off 13 percent!!!!!! The themometer that came with the bator was 5 degrees off!! Ugh I love accuracy! Hehe

The LG is very susceptbile to room conditions. I had luck putting ours in a BIG box, setting dishes of water on top and covering wiht a blanket. It held better temps and humidity that way. Lockdown, we added a tea towel that was wet because sponges werent' enough.
We got 19 out of 40 but the incubator really reeked after 36 hours of hatching and the last chick was shrinkwrapped even tho the humidity was supposedly good.
We'll have to experiment again... later.
