I have a Farm Innovator 4250 incubator. It is day 17 and the humidity read 49 with one red plug out. I put the plug back in and now it reads 55. I know I will have to add water before long. My Question is; "What is the best/easiest way to add water?" I'd like to not have to remove the egg turner to do this, but I can see no way to do this. I also see no way to know how much water I am adding. iI do not want to overfill nor miss.

Thanks for any help.

I think you need the plugs out. Anyway, I add water through the plug hole with a tube. Add a little at a time so you don't add to much

Yes, it does need to be removed three days before hatching time. But they still have sixteen days till hatching time not three.
I bought a turkey injector/basting needle and adding water is easy.
As far as the plugs I would at least keep one out for the incubation period and remove both for the hatch period. Keep in mind the amount of surface(sq inches) controls the humidity the most---if you want to raise the humidity---add more water surface(another container or fill another or bigger area in the bottom) if you want to drop the humidity use less surface or in some area's don't add any water for the incubation.

One other thing---"I" feel high 40's/50's% humidity is to high for the incubation! But you do Need it higher for the hatch! Good Luck

Are you hatching chickens or something else? Incubation is 21 days for chickens, so I'm also confused.

We have the Farm Innovator 4200 incubator. We use an old syrup bottle (thoroughly cleaned) and attached a piece of tubing to it. I ususally hold the lid while hubby inserts tube and adds the water. We used a sharpie and outlined the water recepticals to make it easier to see where to add. Also a bright flashlight helps, so it is usually a two person job for us.

We bought an digital thermometor with humidity reading. The humidity usually shows much lower on it than the gauge on the incubator so we are never completely sure which is correct.

Didn't you say previously it is day 17. Sorry getting confused here.
Yes, I did. I should of said; "17 days till incubation."

To everyone ... I am trying to hatch Chicken eggs.

Please accept my apology. I know it is hard to help someone when that person can't tell you the problem correctly.

Mule, No Problem. So you are on the "same page" with the rest of us---we all go by the number of days since incubation started----not till hatch. So sounds like you are on day 4? Most ALL of us go by the day you started them as day "0" and the next day---24 hours after started as day one 48hrs later as day 2, etc.

Ask away if you need help, we will help you get it figured out?
