Almost time for lockdown! Day 15 today. So, i have a homemade incubator that i made that has eggs in it progressing really well. For the humidty raising what can i use? Just wet paper towels? How many? Or a wet sponge? Help!!

I am not sure how your homemade incubator is set up or how much room you have in it

I set several rubbermaid bowls with a sponge. I also have a rolled up paper towel that stand up on the sponge, like a candle wick. I add water to one, if not enough, I add water to the next one, and the next until I get the desired humidity. If the paper towels looks dry then I know the water level is too low.

! ! ! ! Just make sure if you add a bowl, that it's sides are high enough that the chicks can't get in it and drown.

Humidty levels depends on surface area, so depening on how big your incuabtor is, you could simply fill a cool wip container or such with water and place it in the incubator. If it's too much, find something with a smaller surface area, if its not enough, put in another dish, or find something with a bigger surface area. Remember, depth doesn't matter so you can fill it as full as you want. It's the surface area that controls the humidity. A lot of incubators you pay for come with trays that you fill with water that are the correct surface area for the correct humidity but with a homemade incuabtor, you may have to play with it to get it right.
