Are
they seriously getting $25 A PIECE for these? They look cute and all, but really???

(Not trying to insult the birds, it's just at that price I may need to raise some all of a sudden!

Very possible. It looks like they are selling for taxidermy. Taxidermist will pay good money for good quality birds. I see common birds like ring neck pheasents going for as much as $25 each and mallards going for $30 each. Some of the duck species can get to over $100-150 EACH. And the differnt pheasents can be even more. Quality red goldens go for $50.

LOL I am in Pueblo, Saw those myself and came REALLY close to emailing them. Not willing to pay that for them but maybe he will make a deal on the lot?

Just checked the website I ordered my ringnecks from. Says they are hard to raise in captivity and cost $3 as day old chicks.

Hungarians fetch a pretty penny! Always have. The eggs are quite expensive and hard to find many times. The advantage of starting with an adult bird for brood stock is greatly understated with these and many other "specialty speces" when you figure what eggs cost, the price of incubating, hatching and the losses you'll take there..., brooding (losses here as well), and raising to adulthood--- 25 a bird isnt bad for these guys.

I guess the most important question is...

How do they taste?

It all depends where you live, as they are not that uncommon around me I wouldn't ever pay that much, put still they aren't a chucker and do call for a higher price due to the space they need to be effective breeders.
