HUNGER GAMES Thread

I'm working on the second one right now. I don't like Katniss's attitude (She's a bit...I don't know, rude in Catching Fire. More rude than in the first book and it's really getting on my nerves.) in Catching fire but other than that the book is really good.

She has a reason for her rudness as you will find out. She thinks everyone in the capitol is using her so that is why is she like that. But I really wouldnt call it being rude. More of distrust of everyone around her.

A co-worker is going to "do it right".

He is going to see the movies, then read the books. Otherwise, as we all know, the book RUINS the movie. I have only seen a few movies where the book was as good.

The ending to "Hannibal" was totally different from the book, but just as good! First time ever!

The first two Harry Potter movies were excellent adaptations of the books. Very, very well done. After 1+2.... horrible.

Waiting for the movie as well and it looks like they've done a good job with it. This is a lot like when they made the first "Dune" movie. Dune had a tremendous following and a halfhearted attempt at a movie would have caused massive outrage from the Dune community. If they don't nail this movie then a lot of people are going to be POd.

I loved the way that the last book ended.

SPOILER ALERT

Finding out that Katniss and Peta had children, although begrudgingly, really completed the series well.
After the death of Prim I knew that she'd never end up with Gale. His idea was instrumental in the loss of Prim and they both knew it. I just found it ironic that it was the president was the one to point it out to Katniss.

I like to read the book then see the movies. I get so mad at the movies because they leave so much out that was in the books and change it completly most of the time. They did it with Twilight, Harry Potter, Holes, Cujo, Dracula, and others I can not remember at this point. Books IMO are usually better than the movies because of the detail.

Spoiler VVVVVVVV

The death of Prim to me makes the books worth nothing because of how this all started out. Katniss did what she did for Prim because of taking her place in the hunger games just to lose her in the end....

I'm with you I hope the hunger games is really close to the book, An excelent example of a bad adaptation is the movie Eragon. Its one of those things where your like why say its the book and then change everything.

There is only he movie that I have ever seen that was better than the book. The Five People You Meet in Heaven was an amazing movie and really brought the book to life in the best example possible. Other than that, almost all book to movie adaptions have always left out some of the important things that make you feel for the main character.

Has anyone else noticed the awesome power Suzanne Collins has at naming charectors; I mean, Finnick, Katniss Hawthorn, Peeta, Prim, Rue, Trinket, Cresta, and the others are greek and roman names like Cato and Seneca... ect. The names all fit the charectors. I understand that some of those are last names, but those are the ones that count.

Suzanne Collins is AWESOME!!!

I just finished book one.. it was awesome!
Is it worth it to buy the other ones? How many are in the series?
