So there's a huge probabilty that hurricane florence is coming thru my state and there's already been a declared state of emergency. So, here's my question.. one of my ducks has been sitting on 15 eggs for 2 weeks now. She made a cute little nest in the corner of the house she shares with her four sisters and two drakes. She doesn't really like when the other ducks go near her nest. She barks and snarls at them lol. When the weather starts getting bad, I'm going to have to lock them all up in her house wether she likes it or not. Right now, they have a predator proof large enclosed pen and don't go in their house at night. Only her. The others just chill in their pool all night lol. They get along fine otherwise. Are the eggs going to be okay with all the ducks in there? I'm worried the other ducks will stomp her eggs or she'll get upset and abandon them. Or maybe she won't mind and she'll tolerate it? I don't really want to have to crate her in my house with her 15 eggs..she does not like when I go near it. A big fuss is made. This is hard enough preparing for this esp. When there's an angry broody involved! Lol

All animals will be locked up and kept safe of course with plenty food and water just worried about mama and her little eggs... she has been determined since day 1 to have these babies.

Also this is the first hurricane my chickens and duckies are going to experience... worried for them but they will be locked in their houses which we built overselves so I'm hoping they can withstand these winds/rain. They are pretty strong houses!!

Well they are halfway through. Total 28 days. I wouldn’t move them unless have to. Can you provide separate shelter for the remaining ducks in the run space to include food/water if storms set in on you?

I'm not over there where you are at. I hope that thing's won't go too bad for you, though! Will there be a chance of flooding too over there? How would you keep the eggs dry if there will be?
Thank you, me too. I'm not sure how high off the ground the duck house is but it's 12 inches at least if not more so I'm not really worried about them getting wet/flooding. It stays pretty dry in there when it storms/rains with the doors open and stuff.

Is there any way you could separate the broody from the others within the duck house, maybe construct a little cage or screen out of wire to put over her and her nest?
There's no where else to put the ducks but I am so glad you suggested to put a divider in because that's exactly what I'm going to do. I don't know why I didn't even think of this. Thank you.
