Hurricane Florence

If you can put the crate in the bath tub or shower stall behind the shower curtain they should stay calm and be fine. I was delayed in finishing one of our coops this spring and had 47 hens in a 6x6 ft coop for a couple of weeks. It has three 6 foot long roost in it. They would sit 15 birds on each roost two sat on the floor. Just check there water and feed often as they may knock them over. Say safe and God bless:caf:hugs
Thanks!! I might just see if I can fit it. I have a stand up shower but I think the crate may just fit perfectly. Easy cleanup! ☺️

This may seem crazy, but how big is your chicken tractor? Any chance you can bring it inside and put it on a large tarp? Maybe if you move some furniture around, for a few days. That would keep them safe from the dog, give them the room they're used to and keep the tractor from blowing away too.[/QUOTE
Awesome thought but our tractor is huge. I wouldn't be able to get it through the door. It's one of those PVC pipe ones.

Yes, I realize it's a hurricane .... I'm not deceived at all
Even though I live in the Western part of the state over 340-360miles from Wilmington, experience has taught me to not take these events lightly. I try to be prepared to the best of my ability. Most gas stations in our area were out of fuel last night. (I'm glad I started preparing last week:))

What the folks on the coast are going through must be something else. I hope everyone that needed to be has evacuated to safety.
My mother in law lives in Myrtle and evacuated to our house. So we have a house full.

@Elegantenvy
How is everything going? Were you able to get any more supplies? My thoughts are with you for this upcoming evening! :hugs
Thanks for the concern. I am going out soon to get supplies. I've got water and food but I really need some candles and last minute chicken stuff if I can manage something. Still bright and sunny by me but the wind is starting to pick up.

Please let us know how you and yours fair thru this. Having been thru half a dozen hurricanes over the years, as far from the coast as you are, you should be fine. BUT pre plan what you would do in a tornado . They can pop up all over inland. God bless and you’ll be in our thoughts and Prayers

I would need a lot of wine if my in-laws were with me...... I'm sure yours are nicer than mine! (some people got lucky with in-laws, I did not) :)
Nope. I didn't get that lucky. She's very difficult to live with.
Unfortunately I do not like wine much.. but perhaps some wine coolers will help. She's also not a fan of my chickens in general and thought it was a bad idea to get them. I can't wait to bring them in tomorrow. Hahaha. Payback!
