Hurricane season 2024

I'm guiltily grateful that Milton has shifted just enough south to take us out of the cone, so far. In an RV, we're just not equipped to handle it. And my area, Ocala, is a sprawling farming community with more mobile homes than foundation homes. At least a little bit to the south more of the homes are site built, because they've had to be.

Well, since we're only an hour north of Tampa, I want to offer to bring stuff (like chicken food?) after the storm, if we can drive on the roads and it doesn't veer north and clobber us.
Something to think about anyway. If anyone thinks they might need such help, please PM me for our phone #.

I've been following Mike's weather page, where a lot of amateur meteorologists chat... many of them are asking tonight about this blob thing in front of Milton... and how it almost seems to have some rotation? What do you think, @azurbanclucker (when you're awake)?

The Zoom Earth, if you click precipitation, shows the 'blob' also.
It looks like the typical NorthEast quadrant of the storm but more detached than normal. What do y'all think?

As of the 5AM update it is still a category 5 hurricane has shifted slightly north again back towards Tampa

But it depends on the model. I was reading earlier that the NHC model used in the news is a compilation (average) of all of them. Yet a larger quantity of the individual models are currently indicating Eastern movement (further South). A possible Sarasota or even Cape Coral landfall.
A lot of people on the storm tracking pages are saying that it's odd the NHC hasn't adjusted their forecast cone to reflect the Easterly wobbles that occurred last night. It could just be a matter of timing on their part (maybe later in the day?). But they're also saying this is an extremely difficult storm to predict. We're 24 hours out and it should be more certain by now.
