Hurricane season 2024

Pics
Uggghhjh

They said these particular apartments are known to flood and they expected it.... Yet some people chose to stay which is a little bit weird.

Yep, I was watching these rescues last nite. The water level was not something I would have been hanging around waiting for.

I don't trust the government in anyway
FEMA has never had a good reputation and is doing whatever it can to confirm that. In '05 I contracted with the US Public Health Service to open health clinics in FEMA camps (South Mississippi).
I asked people to NOT tell my family I was working for FEMA. (I told them I was dancing in a club on Bourbon Street, to spare them the shame.);)

Welp just as I was told I was back at work today since 9:30 this morning.

I'm putting this here now. It is the OFFICIAL FEMA response page for Milton. As they start marshalling assistance resources, this page will be updated with information on how to get assistance. You will see a LOT of misinformation in the coming days if the media circus around Helene was any gauge. Some of it is accidental, some will be deliberate.

This is the official source of truth straight from FEMA.

I will update with more resources for Milton as they become available, this is still early days for response.

To compare, here's the Helen response page and the links for assistance from that (if you need them ).

The milton page will have similar info as soon as they can get thigs moving.

Thank you for sharing this for those who may need it.

FEMA has helped a lot of people I know in past disasters. Including us during hurricane Irma, when we lost power for 9 days. They reimbursed us for the gasoline used in the generator and the lost food in the fridge before we got the generator going (issues).

It's one of those things people accept help from and complain about in the same breath.

FEMA - Rumor Response

I trust the agencies staffed with dedicated, highly educated experts in their respective fields far more than any random person on the internet who heard something from somebody.

@Hayden Goseek that first meme is definitely me and I am originally from the mid-Atlantic. Been coming to Florida for vacation or visiting my parents since 1987 and always hated the cold. Yes when it gets down to less then 70 I am frozen and wear fleece. Even 75 can seem cool to me. LOL
And I'm over here sweating if it gets above 74 lol
