hurt chick leg

hello i need some help i have a buff rooster with a hurt leg looks like joint problem nothing seems broke.

can anyone help he's 3 months old
 
i noticed it after we had alot rain and i was cleaning out the chick pen , he stands up but when he walks he drags it but when i picked him up and felt the leg from the hip joint down to his foot it doesn" feel broken but the ankle joint is somewhat swollen and warm to touch . i gave him some pencillin in his water contianer mixed 1/2 teaspoon to gallon of water but it still looks so weak .

hope you can help i luv my buff so much and these are my first chicks , all the other ones are fine . thanks

I don't generally splint injured legs. Most leg injuries heal on their own with no intervention if given a little time. You seem very concerned, so I included the link for your information. I would let the injury go as long as he is able to get to the feed and water, but I'm not a first time chicken owner, though. I have had birds long enough that I have a more practical view of treatment.

You will need to finish the antibiotic course since you started it, but follow it up with a 2 week course of probiotics (yogurt or buttermilk) to replenish the gut bugs. Antibiotic usage carries its own risks that are not to be discounted.

thank you so much i will look at the site . none of the other chicks are hurt and yes he can get food and water .
