Last night got home from work and in the dark accidentally stepped on my Black Copper Marans 1-month old cockerel. Am aware of need for culling, but he is hanging in there. I've been feeding him Chix water with electrolytes as well as passive range of motion to wings/legs, gently. Any other suggestions, besides culling?

How badly is he hurt. Is he able to walk. How are his wings? A pic may help. Poor little guy. I always feared stepping on mine when they were small

It happened to me as well when I was trying to round up 7 new chicks my broody hen had hatched outside of our yard, and was bringing back closer to the coop. It just makes you sick when it happens. I would say if he is alert and can eat and drink, then you can try to assess how his legs and wings are working. We are all willing to help you as much as we can.

He did pass away after 3 days. It must've been internal injuries. Sad that I did this to him. Lesson learned: proper flashlight use, when in the dark away from other light source!
