I had another varmint kill some of my young chickens, and in the process hurt one of my pullets neck. I was wondering if there is some kind of medicine I can get to doctor it with and keep the flies off of her? She is still eating and drinking and active for now. Any info will be of help I don't want to loose her.

By the way its four days until hatch day!

Hi Ringtailtwister,

I'm just an Egg (newbie) that wants to give back to this wonderful website, but I rescued an injured hen from a feed store. She had been introduced into a new flock and her head was badly pecked, maybe to the bone. The feed store owner had sprayed some blue stuff called Farnam Wound Kote on her open sore on her head. It worked really well! It comes in aerosol, dobber, or pump spray. I hope this helps! It's an antiseptic-protective wound spray.

I think Petsmart might have it, not sure but you could call or Google it. One of the great things was it covered the red spot on her head, so they didn't peck her. AND no flies liked the spray, either.

She is doing fine. I sprayed some Blue Coat on her and the flies and other chickens don't seem to be bothering her. She is eating, drinking, and playing acting like a normal chicken I'm glad because she is my largest one of that breed.
