hurt turkey

Nothing to add to the excellent advice you already got, I just wanted to say that he is beautiful and I hope he gets better soon!

I think the eggs should be good for 2 or 3 weeks...

Well, I'm back with a sad update. Tom quite eating the other day, so we did him today. 29 lbs skinned and processed weight. So I guess 40lbs live weight. Once he was processed, I could see that the hip was either outta socket or broke, won't know till we eat him. Thanks for all the help everyone gave me.

:(

You were kind to make the effort. `Tom' was fortunate to have been out on the grass and in the sun (not many turks are afforded the opportunity). Consider a couple of heritage turks, if your hen's not fecund. If they imprint on you as day-olds they are almost too sociable. Anatomically, they are much more resilient customers.

Good luck!

I have a bronze x broad breasted tom who will be a yr old in mid spring. He fell today trying to get away from me as he doesn't like being touched. He was turning away and fell, now he will try to stand and either is unbalanced and sinks back down flapping his wings, or he tries to walk and sinks back down flapping his wings. (I cant tell which) I felt his whole leg and feel nothing wrong or abnormal. Could he just have twanged or sprained it? What chances does he have of recovering and how do I help him? He is eating and drinking some. His mate, a non broad breasted type is laying eggs right now. How long will she be fertile? Thanks for any and all help.

I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THE bronze x broad breasted tom. I THINK HE IS A BRONZE/NARRAGANSETT TOM FROM THE PICS. THE HEN CAN BE FERTILE FOR UP TO A MONTH.I AM PRETTY SHUR THAT bronze x broad breasted tom WILL NOT CARRY WHITE/ GRAY HE HAS!!!

Well a friend hatched out 4 babies so far and has more in the bator from him, so we will see how many babies we get. Thinking of a true bronze male for her to have a buddy. Will she be fine without another turkey for a while? She has chicken friends and the people family but I don't want her getting lonely and depressed.

it really depends on her, each hen is different. she may will see you as her tom now or she may not. watch her for the next few days and see how she is, let me know and I can tell you if you need to get a tom SOON or not!!

well if she was presenting herself to you, she will be ok for a while but do not wait too long. how old is she and what kind is she?
