Y'all I'm thrilled my husband is finally onboard with my chicken adventures. Who knew all you have to do is pose a problem of "what do you think would work best" to a retired engineer, lol. He designed a roost for the girls, wrapped in jute to make holding, sitting easier ($5.00 well spent). He put the Omlet together with way too many extensions. He wasn't happy with the large openings of 1 x 2 inches in the run and so he has ordered the hardware net to further secure the runs. We have been "chicken supply looking/shopping" three days in a row. He is currently designing a watering system and feed system for the girls. I think his ideas are super and will post photos when we get further along. Now he is talking about moving our dog kennel (that is never used 20 x 18) to make additional room for the girls to wander. We do not live on a farm but have a rather large lot in the city. What fun this new chicken life is! The girls are so interesting to watch, it is literally addictive. Their social interactions with establishing pecking order has begun. The adventure continues!
