Not really that young. I was 27 in that picture.
We met when I was 18. He was 43. I never expected to date him at first. A friend of his helped me move and mentioned to him in passing that I had a lot of books. So he stopped over one night to look at my books. We ran in to one another on and off over the next two years. Izzie, my horse and I won a big competition a 70 mile endurance ride and I was the youngest person to ever win it so the local paper ran a story about me. He stopped by to congratulate me. After that he started coming over on a regular basis. He went with me to a few distance rides and really started to get into it since it was more challenging and man-friendly than horse shows. He bought himself an Appaloosa to do it with but then a few weeks later was when he was injured.
He originally wanted to get married when I was pregnant but I refused him at first, saying that I stayed with him because I wanted to, not because a piece of paper said I had to. We married because I got a job in a small traditional town and we wanted to be "respectable" and because he almost died from pneumonia and I realized how financially vulnerable I would be.
Speaking of which, I got to get a hold of the lawyer here in a bit and go up to Social Security office. The estimate they gave me over the phone was more than I thought so I should be able to get my daughter the pony we had originally planned on.
With him gone, that's the only way I'll be able to ride now, if DD has her own.

Well that is YOUNG LOL! We were 40 and 43 when we got married so we were a bit long in the tooth LOL! And our newborn daughter was there for our wedding. After all she HAD to come for the wedding LOL because we didn't invite her (we didn't know we were expecting when we made the plans).
Its funny in life, we have our own interests, with you and hubby into endurance riding while we had our reenactments (and ride horses occassionally when I didn't have any of my own now). We both love horses too.
Giving your daughter a pony would be the best last gift from the two of you together. I am sure he is smiling and hopefully you will be pleased as well as a parting gift. And your DD would have all the fun times of riding again with her mom and probably follow her footsteps!

Anyhow, hope all goes easily with the financial stuff. And i hope you are continuing to heal and recover. It will take a while, but you sound like a strong person.

) and met with the Social Security office. Getting about what the SSI office told me over the phone, so I will be getting DD her pony. Since Wayne smoked, that's an automatic $200/month I have freed up. He also ate a lot too.
Getting a budget worked out, also realized that I have to cancel Wayne's cell phone.
Sigh, all these loose ends ...
Gonna try to sleep without a sedative tonight, we'll see how that goes. Nights are the hardest time.
