I divided my chicks today, taking the older babies out and putting them in their own box. I have 2 guinea keets in the little babies box, where they should be. They are about a week old like all the other babies in that box. They are crying their little heads off!! Nothing is wrong with them, I guess they just don't like that their friends are 'missing'. I know if I put them in the other box with the bigger babies, they'll just cry some more.

Anyway to get them to hush? They are in a seperate room with the door closed, but I can still hear them. I know they'll keep me up all night long!

Well, I finally 'bit the bullet' and moved those keets into the 'big chicks' box....of course they shut up immediately

I'm thinking because the older chicks are also a bit bigger (all bantams, between 3 and 6-7 weeks old), and the young chicks are itty bitty bantams (1 week at most old japs, cochins, and dutch). Maybe the keets like the bigger chicks, they can hide under them better? I'm a bit worried about the temp issue, the older chicks have a light, but it's more for comfort than heat. I guess the keets can always snuggle

I brooded a turkey with my guineas. The turkey was awesome, kept the guineas calm and quiet. Sadly, they are now 4 months old and the turkey has just gone missing. Now, the silly birds fly around, make noise, and act goofier than usual. I think you will be glad the guineas look at the chickens as part of thier flock.

I thought by the title hush little babies you where singing to them. I know that will never work for me my voice is to raspy.
Instead I use a harmonica to chat with the quail ,wishing I had guineas again the music we could make lol
