Husky dog and poultry, slaughtered chicken

If it were me, I would consider rehoming the dog. Has this been solved?

I wished I had enough land and livestock to warrant a Livestock Guardian Dog. I love the idea!

We have fifty acres, they really are amazing dogs. My story was different, we were given two LGD’s and they are three years old, and it was definitely an experience.....all user errors. We’ve had them now for about three months. So we are learning and making sure we stay on top of it and the training has helped.

The original question was about the dog guarding a dead chicken--showing teeth, refusing to come when called, etc. The dog was defending against his owner, not against a stranger.

The situation has since changed.

I think it was recognized all along that one solution to chicken-killing is a fence. The owner has a fence, the dog got out of the fence, of course the owner will fix the fence. (People also made various suggestions about training, of course--it's been a long thread.)

Hi! Topic situation has not changed. My problem was (not the chicken) but the dog. If I wanted to cry behind a chicken, I would write in another forum.
I accept all information regarding training, but not killing a dog. Sorry if I misunderstand, english is not my home language.

It’s so difficult. I have been there many times with dogs and cats. At least they knew they were loved!

Yes it definitely is! Especially with how goofy and happy he was and watching him go downhill and being so young.

Finding him another place to live.
This would not be my first choice. But, the dog is showing aggression to you, it is killing your birds, and it refuses to listen. For me, that isn’t acceptable behavior. Trying to train him better would be my first choice, but...

Still not a reason to kill a dog IMO. Resource guarding is a very fixable issue.

I see you have resolved the issue. I disagreed with ‘put him down’ very much, and I’m glad this wasn’t considered. He sounds like a good boy. I hope you can teach him not to kill birds.

Original situation: dog outdoors with dead chicken.
Change: dog not outdoors, dead chicken not with dog.

That is what I meant by changed.

Do you do this with your family members? Maybe I should turn your attention to where I live? Today, children are not sent to private schools in Europe either. Those times are over. Sorry, don't want to offend.
