Our city allows chickens, our HOA does not. As a renter, I'm allowed to attend HOA meetings, but not allowed to vote or introduce business. Only homeowners are allowed to vote.

How can I get with other people in my neighborhood (who own chickens, I have heard there are at least a few.) who can vote on these matters in the HOA meetings without going to the meetings and saying 'hey guys, I'm looking for all the rulebreakers who have chickens in our neighborhood!' Obviously, that's right out... ;)

I live in Huttoparke, if anyone else is from here?? Maybe??

Thanks guys!!

Can you stalk the back yards and then pop a letter in their mail boxes? You could start a chicken meeting!

Im trying to find the LEAST creepy way to go about this, LOL!!

So try posting on the Texas forum(s) for your general area and you might get people closer to you. On a side note, we used to live in Taylor.... Good luck!

good luck

I know this is an old posting, but any success? I'm in Hutto in an HOA that is not allowing chickens as well: Riverwalk.

TX is home rule - the State generally won't displace local ordinances, and even the failed efforts of late to do so w/ regard poultry left HOA rules alone - it was potential litigation they would almost certainly lose. HOA are voluntary associations, TX would be impairing those contracts by altering their covenants.

Best way to change HOA rules is to get on the HOA Board (elections rarely get much turnout), and change the rules yourself, together with a few like minded neighbors.
