Recently purchased some leghorn hatching eggs. Seller said they were w36s. They just hatched and some are white with black flecks and some are completely white. There's even a couple that are white with a red face. (the down on the face is red) Anyone had w36s before? I'm assuming they are a mixed strain of layer. Did some on line research. Hy Line W36 etc. Wasn't expecting anything except white chicks. Just curious.

I'm not familiar with that specific strain, but I know many of the leghorn hybrids are white with the black flecks. The dominant white in the leghorns can mask a multitude of colors that can then express themselves when crossed with a different breeds. It's kind of an all bets are off type of thing, from my understanding.
