hyperextended leg

For a broken or sprained/strained leg, I would try to find a way to splint the leg so that she can comfortably lie down without stressing her hip. I would think either of those injuries would need at least a few weeks to heal. With the leg splinted she -might- be alright with a bit of movement. Really though, the less moving around there is, the quicker the damage can fix itself.

If it's dislocated that's another story. There are techniques to 'pop' the joint back into place in humans, I have no idea if any of those would be effective on a chicken. I do know that if a person has a dislocated limb for longer then a day or so you shoud not reset it because of the blood vessels that may have got in the way of a joint. Loss of blood flow and gangrene can result.

Do you have any avian vets in your area? Some vets will talk to you over the phone, they would be able to give you a better idea of what you're dealing with. Then again, the local vets just laughed at me when I asked them to come out to look at a chicken...
