I’ll ask 10 questions, you answer them.

Btw
This is a challenging feed to follow and answer. If I find the rest of the questions I will finish later.
Here they are; I quoted them from @SkyAJK’s post.
#1 Why did you choose your username?
#2 Anyone else obsessed with Wyandottes?
#3 What State do you live in?
#4 How many chickens do you have?
#5 Do you have children, and if so, how many?
#6 What is your favorite thing about your flock?
#7 Who’s your favorite chicken?
#8 Do you free-range your flock, and if not, why?
#9 Do you have other animals?
#10 What is your average egg count?
There is also this question:
Can I add a question? If you name your chickens, what are the names and why?

Ok y’all, I guess it’s time to answer my own questions:

#1 Why did you choose your username:
TheChickenGirl because I adore chickens. I love all things chicken, and am a total chicken nerd. 16, because I was 16 at the time.
#2 Anyone else obsessed with Wyandottes?
Ah, Wyandottes! How I love them! Mine aren’t particularly friendly either, but they sure are beautiful! (And make great mothers, I must add.)

I have 3 Gold Laced, 1 Silver Laced, and a Blue laced.
#3 What State do you live in?
Tennessee
#4 How many chickens do you have?
Oh boy, let me see…
24 hens, 2 roosters, 41 chicks,(8 of which are suspect cockerels), and a broody who has taken 17 eggs for herself. So my numbers will be all be changing in like 11 days.
#5 Do you have children?
No kiddos, although I’ve got 8 younger siblings, who I’m doing my best to help with.
#6 What’s your favorite thing about your flock?
I love how excited they are each day, when I go out to let them out of their run.
I also love how they follow me all over creation.
And finally, I love that they actually come when I call them.(I taught them a special whistle as chicks, weather under a broody, or in the brooder, and they always come to it!😍)
#7 Whose your favorite chicken?
This one’s a little tricky for me…
I love my rooster, Mr Darcy.

And my 3 1/2 month old pullets, Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy.

Goodness is the Blue Laced Wyandotte, and I think she’s my favorite.
#8 Do you free-range your flock?
From 1pm until bed
#9 What is your average egg count?
3 pullets are not laying, 2 are broody, leaving me with only 18 layers.
I usually get 14 or 15 eggs.
#10 Do you have other animals?
I’ve got 2 goats, Poppy, and Sheriff.

I wanted goats too. Almost got the (ex) wife to go for a couple Nubians. Unfortunately, her boyfriend had other ideas. 🙄

So I answered 1 - 4.
#5 My children are grown.
#6 My favorite thing about my flock is their appreciation for me, and their eggs!
#7My favorite Chicken ? They are all special,. Our Brahma is pretty special with her friendliness. My Rhode Island Reds -Annie and Rosy are sweet and like to escape to the side yard. My Wyandotte, Buttercup is another escapee from time to time, and the straggler going in at night.

I FREE RANGE IN MY YARD SOMETIMES and mostly it's in their own own and yard. I do this because I live in town, have a few dogs that could chase them if i am not watching out, and have flowerbeds that I prefer they don't tare up. Yet, I want to let them have arcade to grass and weeds too, so I let them out now and then.

#9
I have cats and dogs that go in and outdoors for animals.

#10 our average eggs are varied due to the season- Here in Vermont it's hard to really know at times. Maybe 6/7 a day if a good week in the summer.

Rules are simple.
I’ll ask questions, you answer them.
