Thank you! I love my babies!!Very nice birds.
Howdy yal! It’s been a little while since this happened, but I just wanted to share my rescuing silkie chick story. About a month ago I went to buy chicks from a man who I’d previously bought chickens from. I planned to get 3
When I arrived, I learned that 5 of his 7 had splay leg, and were destined to die. Of course, I could not walk away without doing SOMETHING! So, I took all 7 home. I wanted to rehabilitate them, and give them a loving environment, which they didn’t have. When we arrived home, I gave the babies leg braces that were made of a rubber band and a piece of a plastic straw. Unfortunately, there was one who was WAY worse that it’s siblings, who we named Falcon. He died after a few days.
But, the other chicks were doing FANTASTIC! They could walk! My whole family was overjoyed!!! After a little while, we took the braces off. If yal looked at these 5 week old silkies today, I bet you would have no clue that they used to be sickly baby chicks, bound to die. I hope that y’all will share any experiences like mine that yal have had.
Have a blessed day!
Thank you so much! It really broke my heart when little buddy died, but I know now it was for the best. The poor guy was suffering.I'm sorry you couldn't save Falcon, but gosh, you did a beautiful thing by investing in all of those chicks and saving so many! Your chicks are adorable & I hope they bring you endless joy for many years!![]()
