So my duck layer her first egg today(very first ever), and there is a drake around. There wasn’t a bullseye on the yolk, so I’m confused. Do females lay fertile eggs when they first start laying eggs or do they have to wait until fhe
Next spring/mating season?

It depends if they have mated. Even if there is a drake around, that doesn't mean they have mated yet

Ducks are designed to thawrt unwanted copulation so if she doesn't want it she doesn't necessarily have to take it.
