Sooo we got some baby chicks from the feeder supply store and I’m curious about if the hens from the supply stores are really all hens and if there is a possibility of getting a rooster I know it’s a weird question but I noticed there’s two chicks that are older not sure how much older but one of them is growing rapidly and I’m thinking it might be rooster but I’m honestly not too sure and it knows how to fly already

Hi there. Bigger and flying aren’t indicative of being a roo. If you recently purchased them it may be too early to tell, but pictures in bright light of their combs, front and from the side, will help possibly get an idea. Any idea how old they are?

the two bigger ones look about 3 weeks old or almost 3 weeks old and I’m guessing the little ones are hitting 2 weeks old based on what I’ve researched

Pics? Particularly side shots if you can. Cockerels will grow combs faster and they will turn pink at an earlier age than those of pullets.

So far I would guess pullets but just watch the comb color and see if they start to to turn pink and grow. If they are two to three weeks it’ll start to happen soon.

I have not bought chicks from a store yet.though I do have some coming through the mail for the very first time. From my experience with chicks those tend to mean that you just have a chick that is older than the rest
