Hello! I’m Sandy and new to keeping my own flock. I may need an intervention because I can’t seem to get enough lol. My grandparents kept them when I was child so I grew up around them. And after years of begging, my husband finally caved and got me started for Christmas. We now have 11!

He started me with 2 RIRs and 2 Golden Comets pullets. ( respectively, Chew-bock-a, Kylo Hen, Lay-a, and Hen Solo) Chew-bock-a now insists he’s a rooster!

Next, a friend of his gifts is with what was also supposed to be pullets of an unknown variety. Enter Popeye and 3 who also insist on being roos: Nugget, Drumstick, and Buffalo.

Since we lost a hen (Solo) and now have 3 roos to rehome, hubby brought me 4 more yesterday: Lando and Darth Egger are Australorps and the 2 new Golden Comets are Luke Scoopdooper and Dumplin’.

I’m a travel agent, knitter, science geek, homeschooling homesteading momma to 3 boys: 16, 12, and 8. We live in south Louisiana.

Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? I love to read about chickens! My searches came up with y’all!
