Hello, I’m new here and also new to chicken keeping. We got our first chicks in April and got 4 more today, bringing our total to 8 (7 pullets, 1 rooster.). Breeds are Barred Rock, mixed, whiting blue, whiting green, French black copper maran. I’ve been a gardener for many years and have always wanted chickens to help with compost, reduce food waste, and bug control. Our chickens are also pets for us.

I’m a middle school teacher, mom of 2, and just celebrated 25th wedding anniversary. I’ve been lurking on BYC for a while trying to learn everything I could about chicken keeping. Finally registered because I have a question I need help with! Thanks for sharing all your knowledge, it’s so helpful!!
